Annie Sloan meets The Graphics Fairy

I have been wanting to paint my dining room table since I purchased it on clearance at a local Antique Store a few years ago.  I decided it was a perfect time to try out the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I used Old White paint color.  I did sand the top of the table but you don't have to when you use her paint.  I used 2 coats. It was very easy to work with.  I still need to put a seal coat on it.

I wanted the design to work whether I had the table leaves in or not so I had to alter the image that I got from one of my favorite sites. It is from The Graphics Fairy!  She posts tutorials and images for free!  I drew it free hand.  This is without the leaves in.  It is a 58" round.

I love crowns and have them throughout my home so because I am a daughter of "The King" I added a crown that is from The Graphics Fairy.  I printed it out on 8 x 11 paper and then I enlarged it as I painted it because I needed it to fill the space better. This is with both leaves in at 58" x 90".
I added "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good" within the ribbon area since it is our dining table.

This is the image that was my inspiration.  You can see that I changed it up a bit.  Go check out her site!

  1. I love your table, how clever to adapt the design to suit your table! What method did you use to transfer or did you hand paint?

The table is sensational. Are you all this hand-painted?

    1. Thank you Barbara! I penciled most of the design and then hand painted it. I hope to post a video on my YouTube channel that explains how I did it!

  4. Oh wow Patty, it's lovely, that verse is such an awesome touch!! I'd love to see a picture of the entire dinning set, with the chairs too! Do you redo all your furniture? I am moving, so I'm thinking of trying to buy thrift store dressers for a shabby scrapbook room. I have heard of Annie Sloan paint and how awesome it is, where can I buy it? Hugs, Sue

  5. Thank you Sue! I like to buy thrift store or even pick up discarded furniture and paint them. You know the saying, one man's trash is another man's treasure! You can look up retailers online and see if there is someone local that carries her paints or order it online. It's not cheap but a little goes along way. I'm hooked on the stuff. I love your dresser and can't wait to see the finished product! Hugs! Patti

  6. Gorgeous! What did you use for the brown design? What kind of paint? Ink? I recently did a cake stand and had trouble getting the painted design to stick. Used acrylic and had to take it off. Used annie sloan graphite, but it was difficult to paint small detail. Tried ink and that washed off.

    1. Elaine I used Ranger acrylic paint. One color that I watered down to make different shades. The Annie Sloan paint was a good base. I waxed the table and it's holding up perfectly! Hope this helps!
